Hello World!
I'm Cat, and five years ago, I was managing Discord gaming communities. Now I'm building computer vision games. I've had a roller coaster of a journey through the gaming/tech industry over the past few years. For my first post (🎉!!) I wanted to share a bit about myself and where I'm heading.
In short, I'm a product person constantly figuring out what skill I need next to build the idea stuck in my head. I began my professional career as a community manager in massive Discord gaming communities, then pivoted into gameplay engineering for a few years, then full-stack engineering, and now I'm pushing my technical skills even further into ML engineering.
The quote that's powered that growth throughout these years is pasted across the top of my personal Notion page:
"I am learning every day to allow the space between where I am and where I want to be to inspire me and not terrify me," from Tracee Ellis Ross.
I've experimented with several ML technologies, such as NLP and audio ML, but among these subdomains, computer vision has quickly become a huge passion for me. I'm now looking to combine that passion with the skills I've picked up throughout my career so far to:
-
Build and join communities of ardent ML/CV engineers.
-
Create innovative and accessible (and perhaps gaming 👀) experiences using CV technology.
-
Advocate for the value of "hardcore" learning, in an era when "cognitive surrender" is made all too easy by AI reliance.
P.S: If you love the sound of that, connect with me to talk more about it!
I'm excited to start sharing the new projects I've spent the past year tinkering with, as well as more of my thoughts on the impact of AI on this industry.
